About the Role
ASSISITANT GARDENER 40hpw (winter) 45hpw (summer) - Salary DOE.
A well-established Cotswold estate, between Cirencester and Stroud, is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time assistant gardener, to work alongside the Head Gardener, one part-time assistant gardener, and wider estate team when needed. Due to the nature and terrain of the garden, the role requires a fit and hard-working individual to carry out a range of general garden and estate maintenance duties, including, but not limited to:
•Mowing and strimming
•Weeding
•Hedge cutting
•Topiary
•Shrub and rose pruning
•Mulching
•Planting
•Lawn management
•Irrigation
•Poultry care
•Kitchen garden maintenance
•Firewood production
•Other ad-hoc estate maintenance duties
Essential skills and experience:
•1 year's horticultural experience
•Ability to work in all weathers
•A flexible and conscientious approach to working
•Happy to work on their own or as part of a team
•Strives to maintain high standards
•Creative and innovative
•Current UK Driving licence
•A willingness to learn new skills
•Respectful of the principle's privacy
•Works in a discrete, safe, and controlled manor
•Hardworking, self-motivated, and proactive
•Has a working knowledge of garden tools and machinery
Desirable skills and experience:
•Chainsaw certificate
•All-terrain vehicle/Quad experience
•Experience with fruit and vegetable production
•Familiar with the maintenance of garden machinery
•An interest in organic gardening
A current DBS clearance and references will be required prior to commencement of employment.
